Headache
TENSION headaches
These headaches arise from tension in muscles of the neck and face.
The pain is often described as a constant pressure and tightness sensation, as if the head were being squeezed in a vice.
The pain is frequently present on both sides of the head and tends to get worse as the day progresses.
These forms of headahe generally responds well to preventative medication.
MIGRAINE headaches
Common Migraine with aura.
Common Migraine without Aura.
The pain is usually one sided with sensitivity to light and sound with a sensation of feeling sick.
If headaches occur more than twice a month, preventative medication should be considered.
CERVICOGENIC headache
These headaches originate from disorders of the neck.
They are often accompanied by restricted cervical movement and pain radiating to the arm.
They may respond to local anaesthetic trigger point injections, which are performed through this Centre.
INFLAMMATORY headaches
These headaches are symptoms of other disorders, like sinusitis, meningitis and encephalitis.
BOTOX
Most people think Botox is only used for cosmetic purposes.
Botox is now used as a medical treatment and it has become an alternative for Migraine sufferers.
It has fewer side effects than conventional drugs used to treat chronic migraine, though it is still viewed as a “drug of last resort”.
Botox offers an effective treatment for around 20-30 percent of sufferers.
